Mid-Northeast
Mission District
A Message from the Dean
The Mid-Northeast Mission District of the North American Lutheran Church encompasses the area of Western New York State and Western Pennsylvania. Throughout the lake areas, valleys and beautiful mountains 41 congregations meet faithfully each and every Sunday to worship our Lord and Savior. As part of the North America Lutheran Church we strive to stand firm on the Word of God. Our congregations vary from small congregations with perhaps a dozen worshipping together, to active congregation with 50 – 100 worshipping every week and there are a few larger congregations reaching out to their communities with 200+ worshiping.
We are delighted to house the North American Lutheran Seminary on our territory. The NALS is located at Trinity Anglican Seminary in Ambridge, PA. Many of our congregations are blessed with offering the seminary students on the job training on Sunday mornings.
Our mission district has a passion to raise our children and youth knowing Jesus Christ. We conduct an Elementary Camp and a Youth Camp at In-Tents Lutheran Camp near Hooversville, PA every July. We promote High School students to attend BYLD where they may discern a call to serve God in the future. Along with the mission district encouraging congregations to send youth to Quake Youth Gather in Pittsburgh every winter. Our youth have the opportunity to grow knowing each other even though they may live miles apart.
There is also a passion to do mission with the NALC Disaster Response Team gathering needed materials at the time of natural disasters and to also go as a team to different areas to help families rebuilding after losing so much after floods or other disasters.
May God continue to bless us as we continue to serve Him faithfully.

Christ Centered
We confess the apostolic faith in Jesus Christ according to the Holy Scriptures. We affirm the authority of the Scriptures as the authoritative source and norm, “according to which all doctrines should and must be judged” (Formula of Concord). We accept the ecumenical creeds and the Lutheran Confessions as true witnesses to the Word of God.
Mission Driven
We believe that the mission of the Church is to preach the Gospel and to make disciples for Christ. We believe that making disciples — in our congregations, in our communities and nations, and around the world — must be a priority of the Church in the present age.
Traditionally Grounded
We affirm the ecumenical creeds and the faithful witness of the Church across time and space. We endorse the form and practices of the universal Church that are consistent with Scripture, particularly the office of the ministry and the tradition of worship under Word and Sacrament. We seek dialogue and fellowship with other Lutheran churches and with faithful Christians of other confessions.
Congregationally Focused
We strive to be a church that is organized to facilitate the ministries of local congregations in a posture of servanthood and a spirit of partnership, through the provision of resources, connections and information.
